What Separates the Wildly Successful People from the Ordinary?

Is it true what they say, “Either you have it or you don’t?” Is it as simple as that? Do you know your true destiny? Do you know what you were put on this earth to accomplish? What do you want to be known for? Do you REALLY know?

Do you wish you had the magic pill that could provide you the success that someone like Oprah Winfrey, Mark Cuban, Bill Gates, or Sara Blakely have experienced? Unfortunately, there isn’t one or I would have taken it a long time ago. Do you ever ask yourself, “What do they have that I don’t?” I do daily, except for Bill Gates because that is glaringly obvious. He is brilliant and his IQ score says so.

Instead, let’s talk about ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary things. Why does it seem that the truly successful people know their destiny, beyond doubt, early on in life?  Or, at least they lead us to believe they do. They give us advise on how to hold on to our dreams and never give up no matter what it takes.  Are you sitting at 211 degrees just about to boil?

Cooking pot on the fire with boiling water

Many of these people are star athletes, movie stars, creators, and musicians. Do you think Oprah Winfrey knew she would be one of the most successful and richest people in the world when she was young? Unless I had a conversation with her, I don’t know that answer, but I’m guessing not. When did she actually realize her calling and dedicated her whole being to it?

Speaking honestly, does success for some people happen by chance or luck? Tell the truth…there are some crazy successful people you have met and you think… hmmmm how did that happen! How did they get the magic pill?

A woman is looking at New York standing on the terrace in a modern skyscraper with panoramic windows.

There absolutely has to be a lot of blood, sweat, and tears (effort and focus) but only a very small portion of the entire population actually achieve greatness. How can this be, when I know there are a lot of people working extremely hard? So, what is everyone else NOT doing that is holding them back from reaching greatness?

Many soon to be successful people won’t necessarily tell you what they want their destination to be but it seems obvious they know where they want to go.  Or do they?  Much of the advice I read is visualize your dream and take steps each day to accomplish these aspirations.  Well, what if you don’t know exactly what your aspirations are.  Is it still possible to be wildly successful? For example, maybe you can see yourself working for a corporation, a non-profit, or you want to be an entrepreneur but you can’t be specific on the actual field. It is possible your passion for one thing is not tremendously strong. If you can’t be specific, can you still visualize your destiny?

The goal achievement

If you knew exactly what you were put here on this earth to do, you could get laser focused and inch towards it every single day. As a matter of fact, you could dive right in and never look back. Sound familiar? This is the advice we get from extremely successful people, who accomplish amazing things. I’m not talking about just your career; I’m talking about your life’s purpose. I’m always in aw of people who know their purpose and I admire their passion. You learn a lot about yourself through this exploration. Here is how I will leave it…Keep searching because the search is half the fun. Victory will come!
