The Road to a New Adventure
You want to start a new adventure…how exciting and how scary! You’re feeling a bunch of mixed emotions: excitement, nervousness, anxiety, impatience, adventurous, confusion, elation, etc. One minute you feel pure excitement and then next minute you’re completely frozen with anxiety. All these emotions are completely normal. What you need to keep reminding yourself of is to stay focused on the end goal. This is not going to be an easy road but you can learn so much about yourself though this great adventure of life.
Whether you plan on starting a job with a new company, make more money in your current role, move into a different role within your current company, change careers, or start a new business; you are going to have to be your biggest cheerleader. This new adventure will require you to have a positive attitude and tons of energy. There are moments you will have to give yourself pep talks, pats on the back, or a swift kick in the ass to keep you motivated. Your support system matters but your inner thoughts matter even more. Don’t let negative thoughts paralyze you and keep you from your dreams.
It’s quite possible you don’t know exactly what adventure you want to do next and you are still trying to figure it out. It’s easy to get frustrated but don’t allow it. Don’t get frustrated! Identify what you are good at, what you enjoy doing, and where you see yourself long term. Talk to family members, meditate, pray, and/or do some research until it clicks. It will present itself! You just need a clear mind.
Once you have identified what the new adventure is going to be, put your plan in place. Whatever it is, it’s not going to happen overnight. At least not for the majority of people. Don’t we wish it was that easy! Try working towards your goals a little by little everyday. If you have to wake up early or go to bed late to work towards your dreams, that’s the sacrifice you will have to make. If you are willing to make these sacrifices and put in the amount of effort it takes to become successful chances are you are going to find a way to make it happen. Invest in yourself and you will obtain your goals.
If you have put in a significant amount of effort and made major sacrifices in your life consistently for at least 6 months, than chances are, you have the stamina to keep going. Stamina will play a major role in your success. Most people quite because it gets hard. Everyone’s threshold is different but if you can make it 6 months with consistent effort and major sacrifices, you are too far in it to turn back now. Why would you? All that effort would be out the window. Just when you feel you are going to give up, give it one more try. It is the people that give it one more try, try after try, that achieve their dreams. You may fail along the way, but y0u pick yourself back up, dust yourself off, and try again.
